Performance

Recording, clips and streaming run next to your game. Settings → Performance decides how much of your PC they may use.

Profile For Encoder Recording quality Clip buffer
Gaming Getting every frame in your game fastest setting good (23) 60 s
Balanced Most PCs balanced setting very good (20) 120 s
Quality Strong PCs and recording-focused sessions highest quality setting (HEVC recordings when your card supports it) best (18) 120 s

Every profile uses your graphics card’s own encoder when it has one, and the platform’s recommended bitrate for each stream. Profiles never change your scenes, sources, canvases, folders or stream keys.

If you change one of these settings by hand (on the Recording or Stream pages), Performance shows Custom.

Click Optimize for this PC. Clutch shows what it found (graphics card, its encoders, processor cores and memory), recommends Gaming or Balanced, and lists every setting it would change before you click Apply. Undo last profile change puts your previous settings back.

Clutch picks a profile the same way the first time it starts.

If your game is running and the encoder or Clutch’s rendering can’t keep up, Clutch says so and offers Use a lighter profile: one click moves you from Quality to Balanced, or Balanced to Gaming. The change applies to the next recording or stream.
